| The Center
for Positive Connections is a resource and support center for people
living with HIV/AIDS.
As we have a small staff, the
role of the volunteer is crucial to our mission and existence. Volunteers
are recruited to provide services to our members in the various areas
throughout the Center. All duties will be assigned according
to skill/training level, prior volunteer task performance & availability.
Volunteers will be encouraged to develop the skills necessary to enhance
employability in a variety of settings.
Volunteers are generally utilized
in the following capacities:
- Administrative Assistant /
General Office Duties
- Data entry - maintain and develop resource
lists and data bases.
- Maintain office filing systems, order and
restock inventory and supplies.
- Maintenance of the Center: floors, kitchen/lounge,
bathrooms, child care room, treatment & meeting room, offices,
and gym
- Receptionist: greet members & visitors,
assist with phones, transmit faxes, maintain appointment schedules
& activities sign up
- Program Assistant / Client Services
- Follow up of new members via telephone
- Provide assistance with planning and follow
through of social activities, including RSVPs, confirming attendance,
packing up day-of-event supplies, leading activities at events,
creative solicitation of social event admissions (i.e. tickets
to theater or sports events)Assist
in program support of educational lectures and workshops: scheduling
of speakers, secure event funding and donations, confirm participant
attendance, assist with event site set up and breakdown (seating
arrangement, name tags, refreshments etc).
- Public Relations/ Marketing Assistants
- Assist with public relations tasks: preparation
and/or typing of press releases, mass faxing and distribution,
represent organization at luncheons and meetings
- Visit doctors’ offices, agencies and case
managers to introduce the Center’s available services &
programs.
- Skilled computer graphic individual to
develop flyers & brochures to help advertise programs, services
and events.
- Special Events Coordinator/ Development
Assistant
- Provide assistance with planning , implementing
and developing major and minor fundraising events.
- Experienced Grant writers/ researchers:
proposal editing and follow through of grant proposal.
- Assistant to grant writer with research,
preparing and copying documents.
- Organizing and coordinating donors files.
- Newsletter Helpers
- Provide assistance with coordination of
editorial content and layout of newsletter. advertising sales
assistance, proofreading, editing.
- Assist with monthly mailing project and
quarterly newsletter: collate & fold flyers, label &
stuff envelopes, affix postage and deliver to post office.•Distribute
newsletters to drop off sites.
- “Positive Talk” Speakers’ Bureau Coordinato
- Introduce TCPC Speakers’ Bureau to schools
and community organizations
- Set up quarterly training for individuals
wishing to participate in this HIV/AIDS educational program.
- Follow through with inquiries for speakers.
- Book speakers for specific presentations
- Assist in the coordination of the speakers
training workshops
- Recruit, train and supervise volunteers
to man outreach booths at health fairs and conferences.
- Resource Library Coordinator
- Organize/reorganize, refill, reorder, update
and copy materials in Resource Center.
- Update and organize HIV/AIDS materials
on resource racks (handouts, brochures, newsletters, magazines,
etc.) and bulletin boards.
- Input info into data base and categorize
books and audio/visual tapes in the lending library
- Solicit materials from publishers to expand
the library.
- Secure the return of overdue books.
- Prepare information packets for individuals
who are newly diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.

Personal Trainers, Acupuncturist, Hypnotherapist, and more. .
